Mt. Rainier Train Ride

Mom bought tickets on Groupon for us to take a train ride down near Mt. Rainier. How fun does that sound?  The only problem was that on the day we went, it was freezing!  41 degrees outside and probably not much warmer inside the non-heated train car.  You could totally see your breath inside.

Pretty, huh?  And if it hadn't been rainy and foggy, we were supposed to see views of Mt. Rainier too.

It's hard holding that heavy camera and trying to push a little button and make sure people are in the picture all as the same time!

After being on the train for about 45 minutes, it stopped and let us out for a little walk.  Now I'm sure that walk would have been quite enjoyable on a sunny day, but it was cold and wet when we got off.  But that didn't stop us from walking along the tracks and getting a peek at the front of the train.

On our way back, Mom and I went to the front train car and got to see the engine.

I had fun, even though it was cold.  And Sydeny seemed to like it too.  I think Mom was freezing the whole time and probably would have liked to go in the summer instead of the end of October.  Oh, well, it was a good deal on Groupon so she can't complain too much.  And it's always nice to go on a little adventure that's different than what we do every day.

The Pumpkin Patch

It had been rainy and yucky here for a week and then there was an amazing day when the sun came out--for two days in a row.  So Mom hurried us off to a pumpkin patch on the second morning so that I could get back in time for PM school.  It was perfect because it was sunny AND dry since it hadn't rained the day before.  We went to Thomasson Family Farm.  Get ready for lots of pictures!

I got to milk a cow and then I sat on a horse and tried to rope a cow.  Those ropes are kind of heavy and hard to swing.

Sydney sat on a horse too, but she didn't do any roping.

I pumped some water so my duck could when a race.  That was hard.  Sure am glad I don't have to do that to get water at home!

The corn box was the best!  It was just a giant box filled with dry corn to play in!

Sydney had a tough time walking in it at first, so she practiced a bit while I buried my legs.

I wish I could have stayed in that thing the whole time we were there.  But there were some school kids on a field trip there, and when they got to the corn box it was really crowded, so we got out.

After playing lots, we finally headed out to the field to find pumpkins:

I chose this nice big one and even helped push the pumpkins back to the car.

You'll notice we don't have any cute traditional pumpkin patch pictures of me and Sydney sitting on a bale of hay or on a pile of pumpkins.  Blame Sydney.  That girl won't stay still for pictures and if you ask her to pose for a picture in any way, she just says, "no."

We go to eat lunch at the farm before heading home and Mom got me to school right on time.  I had soooooo much fun.  Can't wait to go back next year!

Soccer

I am playing on a soccer team for the first time.  My team is the Green Dragons.  I hated it at first, but now I really like it.  And we've been lucky that it hasn't rained during any of my games or practices.  Mom took a few videos of me playing in my first game.  I think I've gotten a little better since then, but I still have trouble keeping my eye on the ball and I don't like getting into the mess of kids that are all kicking at the ball at once.  You'll see what I mean in the video.  I'm always one step behind (or three or four) and I'm pretty easily distracted ("Squirrel!").  I don't think I'll score any goals this year, but maybe next year.  By the way, I'm number 5.  I chose that number because I'm five.  You can spot me on the field because I'm usually the one behind everyone else.

I tooted the other night at dinner which Ty and Mama and Dada thought was hilarious, so I tried to toot again. 

No more toots, just a bunch of grunting and grimacing.  But I still got more laughs, so it was worth it.

It's been a while

So, I haven't kept everyone in the loop of what's going on with us.  One reason is Instagram--Mom loves that thing and keeps all six of her followers in the know on there.  The other reason is texting--she can send pics to my family (who are probably the only ones reading this blog) super easy.  And because of Instagram and texting, Mom is constantly taking pics with her phone rather than the camera and forgets that she has a million pictures on her phone that I could post on the blog.  Reason three is that our lives have been a little boring lately--not a lot of picture taking going on here.  The last reason is that Mom and I both got pneumonia in September and things were a little out of kilter for a couple of weeks.  But I'm back!  And with a quick update that covers all the time I've been gone.  You can tell it's been slow around here cuz I only have thirteen pictures that tell you everything you need to know about what we've been doing for the past six weeks.

Dad found this cute little froggy friend in our backyard:

I got a new Lego space shuttle and put it together all by myself.

The city replaced the sidewalk outside our house, and in the process they managed to ruin Dad's retaining wall.  He had to rebuild the whole thing.

Last weekend we watched General Conference.  Sydney played around with our Conference Board, while I worked on more serious activities.

And do you like he Lego temple Mom and I built.  The Angel Moroni on top was all my idea.

The weather was so nice that we went to see the salmon running up the Cedar River.  Unfortunately, it was still a little early in the season and there weren't too many there. 

But that didn't stop us from trying to get a closer look. 

And Sydney absolutely loves pockets.

As you can tell, life hasn't been overly exciting around here.  We'll see what October has in store for us.
