Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was so much fun. Daddy's brother Matt and and his family came up from California and stayed with us for a few days. I loved playing with my cousins. My cousin Rachel is only 8 days older than me!

Brendan did this fancy sideways move on the slide.

When I tried it, I ended up doing the splits (ouch!) and need help getting down.

After playing hard for a couple of days, I think the novelty of having cousins around all the time wore off. So we took a breather and watched a movie (me, Stephanie, and Brendan).

On Thanksgiving Day, Daddy somehow convinced Uncle Matt to help him hang Christmas lights while it was sprinkling rain outside. (Aunt Heather climbed the ladder to take a picture.)

I was stuck at the little kid table for Thanksgiving dinner, even though Mommy keeps telling me I'm a big boy. Actually, I loved the little table and chairs. They were just right. The company was pretty okay too. : )

Somehow Uncle Matt ended up at the little kids' table too.
And what would Thanksgiving be without a few snapshots of people eating?

After dinner, the kids played and the adults talked. I definitely think the kids got the better end of the deal.

My cousins and I found some balloons leftover from my birthday party. Rachel and I thought it would be fun to hold them in our teeth and whack each other. (Do you like how Mommy made sure to include Daddy's chin in the picture?)

Brendan and Stephanie got in on the action and started using their TaeKwonDo moves with the balloons.

Daddy and I were exhausted by the time everyone left.

Toy Story 3--Starring Ty!

I finally turned three!!! I've been practicing saying my new age and showing it on my fingers for weeks. Now it's official!

And I got to have a birthday party with my friends. Mommy had some games planned, but everybody was pretty happy to just play with my toys.

The theme of my party was Toy Story, because I love Woody and Buzz. So Mommy planned some Toy Story games. She made a piggy bank that looked like Hamm from the movie and we had to stand on a chair and drop coins into it. The person who got the most coins in won a prize.

Unfortunately, Daddy forgot to take pictures of the game, so Mommy took this little picture of Hamm so you could get the idea.

We also played "Pin the part on Mr. Potatohead." Daddy made a really cool Mr. Potatohead out of paper. Of course, he had to make sure it look just like the real thing, so he pulled out his handy dandy tape measure and made it completely to scale.

When we got done, Mr. Potatohead looked like this:
He was supposed to look like this:
At least we got a few of the parts in the right place.
After playing all the games, I finally got to open my presents. I had wanted to do that since Katy showed up with the very first present.
My birthday cake was really cool. It had a toy Buzz Lightyear on it! Of course, it was a little heavy for the cake and tipped over a few times. So Daddy pushed him way down deep--up to his knees!--so that he wouldn't fall over anymore.
I insisted that we had to have party hats and blowers at my party, just like the book If You Give a Pig a Party.
I loved it when everyone sang "Happy Birthday" to me.
And I blew out all three of my candles on the very first try. (Mommy and I had been practicing.)

What a fun birthday!

After everyone left, I started playing with the toy I got from Grandma and Grandpa de Jong: a police station and fire station. It's like a dollhouse for boys!!!

Mommy and Daddy sure were tired when everything was over, but I sure had a great time!

Family Picture

Mommy helped me draw this picture of our family. I told her who everyone was and she wrote their names down, just in case some people had a hard time telling who was who.

What do you think?

The Most Comfortable Chair in the World

Not really. This is what happens when I don't get enough sleep the night before and Daddy let's me watch a short video on his computer.

The Firefighter

I love Halloween!!!! Last year I didn't totally get it. This year was completely different! I was counting down the days until I got to wear my fireman costume. What could be more fun than dressing up in a costume that you love, walking around the neighborhood with friends, knocking on doors, and getting candy?! Whoever thought up trick-or-treating was a genius!

I got to go trick-or-treating twice. On Friday night, we went to our church Halloween Party. They called it trunk-or-treating because people opened the trunks of their cars and we went from trunk to trunk to get candy. It was really fun. They also had free popcorn. Here I am with my friend Isaac.

I was actually a pretty slow walker at the party because my boots were too big for me and if I walked too fast, they would fall off.
I loved my helmet, but sometimes it made my head itch. I had to keep taking it off to scratch.

On Saturday night, I went trick-or-treating in our neighborhood. Daddy took me while Mommy stayed home to pass out candy. Notice I wore regular tennis shoes that night. Daddy thought it would let me move faster. And apparently, that's what it's about: walk as fast as you can to a lot of houses to get as much candy as possible.

I got to go trick-or-treating with my friends Amelia and Katie.

I got a ton of candy. Daddy is helping me eat it. I wanted to go trick-or-treating on Sunday too, but apparently Halloween is only once a year. I can't wait until next year!
