Easter

Did you have as good of an Easter as I did?  I was up (and dressed) bright and early on Easter morning and discovered that the Easter bunny had left a trail of jelly beans from my bedroom down the stairs to my basket!

I was up before Sydney so I got to check out my basket first.  I was totally excited about the firemen Legos I got.

AND the cool Pop Tart holder that I beg my Mom to buy every time we go to the grocery store.  How did the Easter Bunny know about that???

We couldn't hunt for eggs until Sydney woke up.  So while I was waiting for her, I put together my Lego fire jeep all by myself.

When Sydney finally woke up, it took forever for her to get down the stairs because she kept eating all the jellybeans on her way down.

She didn't even care about her basket at first because she was too busy stuffing her face with jellybeans.

So I decided to play with the cool new cash register she got.

We finally got to look for eggs...

  and some of them were in pretty tricky places.

Sydney didn't really get the whole egg hunt thing.  We had to lead her to the eggs and then point to them.  Sometimes she picked them up and sometimes she didn't.  Hello?!  Didn't she realize there was candy in them???

We finally got her to put a few in her basket.

Oh well.  I'm sure she'll get better at egg hunts when she's a big kid like me.  In the meantime, I really like helping out my sister the toddler.

General Conference

We had General Conference this weekend and I loved it.  Mom put together some cool projects for me so that I could listen better to the prophets and apostles. 

We had our very own Conference Center that mom made with pictures of the First Presidency and Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.  When they spoke, I moved their picture to the podium.  And there were pictures of things they might talk about, so when I heard them say temples, or families, I could move that picture next to them.  When they got done speaking, I put their picture on their chair.  Then when the choir was singing, Mom and Dad would share the notes they took from each talk with each other, and write their favorite parts on sticky notes under the apostles' pictures.

Mom made some popsicle stick puzzles to put together.  I got them done so fast!  (I bet it took Mom a lot longer to make them than it did for me to put them together.)

Mom also helped me make a Lego temple and an Easter egg laced with yarn.

Here's a closer look at the temple.  Do you like the fountain?  And the guys sitting on benches looking at the fountain?  They rode their motorcycle to the temple.

My favorite part of conference (besides hearing the prophets speak, of course) was the candy.  Mom had four little buckets with different candies and words attached to each bucket.  When we heard one of the words, we got to eat a piece of candy!

Morning conference was the best because Sydney slept through most of it and I paid better attention.  In the afternoon, she only slept through part of it and was totally distracting.  Plus, I was kind of tired by that point and wanted to do more playing. But I'm still glad we got to listen to conference.  It really is awesome!

Last hurrah

My best bud Amelia moved to Utah a few days ago.  I've asked my Mom a couple of times if she's still there and Mom says yes, that she's living there now.  So I guess she really isn't coming back.  At least, not for awhile.  Luckily we got to have one last hurrah the day before she left.

Amelia and Charlotte came over to my house and we built a fort.

Then I taught Amelia how to read with my BOB Books.

It was a pretty nice day so we went for a walk and loved looking at the workers building new houses in my neighborhood.

Then we performed in a concert in the backyard.

I love Amelia.  I hope she likes Utah.

Aunt Kari

Aunt Kari came to visit for a few days and we had so much fun.  We went to the Rainforest Cafe for lunch one day and saw elephants!

And I got to throw some money in a crocodile's mouth!

Aunt Kari made me a fort,

and played cars.

We played lots of other stuff too, like t-ball, but the camera wasn't always around to document that.

And no one from Mom's family can come for a visit without lots of yummy cooking and baking going on.  The de Jongs plan their visits around what they will eat.  One of the new recipes they tried was this Strawberry Lime Cream Cake.

One of the days was actually really nice so we headed to the zoo.  I wasn't too interested in the animals and wanted to just play, so you'll see that we don't have many pics of animals.

Except this cool one of this gorilla.  What a balancing act!

As we were getting ready to leave, this man opened up a cart full of animal skins and skulls and we got to touch all of them.  SO cool!

I love it when my family comes to visit.  Grandma and Grandpa de Jong will be here in two weeks.  Can't wait!

Make room for Sydney

I love to climb into things and there are plenty of things to climb into at my house.

Ty's tool bench has plenty of room once I take out all the drawers.

I can sit in a drawer AND eat the rest of the pop tart I left in there the last time I sat there.

The best way to play with toys is to get right in there with them.

If I squeeze myself into a little bin, Ty will push me around in it.

And look whose wallet I found while lounging in the shoe bin!  Dad's!

It's amazing how many places there are to play when you're little.
