A typical day at the beach....in Seattle

Last Monday was one of the lowest tides of the year, so of course we headed to the beach to check it out.  Don't we look ready to play at the beach?

It was Memorial Day, so of course it was raining.  But that didn't stop us from having tons of fun. We met some friends there and I spent most of the time running around with them while Mom hung back with Sydney. So most of these pictures are of Sydney. Mom didn't get to see most of the cool stuff I found.

Dad trying to get a crab to grab his keys:

Isn't it a beautiful day at the beach?

Sydney loved the shells and seaweed she found.

And when Dad showed her a little hermit crab,

she actually let him put it in her hand.

When Dad started turning over rocks, we found some cool snails.

Although my favorite find of the day was this black rock.

Syd looked for Ninja Turtles in the sewer drain, but we couldn't see any.

Doesn't everyone stomp in puddles in their rain boots at the beach?

And here's a quick video of silly Syd splashing in the puddles and doing a weird walk afterward.

And after spending almost two hours in the rain at the beach, we did what every other family does after a beach trip--got ice cream cones at DQ! What a great day!

Boys only camping

Last weekend Dad and I went on the Stake Father Son Campout. This is our third time going and I had been looking forward to it for weeks!

Packing up the car:

Poor Sydney thought she was going too.

She got a little upset when Mom took her out of the car.

Heading out:

We thought it might rain while we were there, but it only sprinkled for a bit and then nothing, so we were able to get the tent set up without getting soaked.

It was so much fun.  Lots of my friends were there:

And there was a pirate ship near our campsite:

We roasted marshmallows that night, although I like my marshmallows better when they're raw. They aren't as good with brown stuff on them.

I got to watch a movie before going to sleep.

And then I got to eat Lucky Charms for breakfast in the tent.

On Saturday I got really brave and climbed this big thing.  Normally I'm terrified of heights, but I think I'm getting a little better.

Man I love camping with my Dad.

I can't wait for next year's father/son campout.

Adventures with Aunt Kari

Aunt Kari came for a visit last week and we all kind of fun adventures.  The first day she was here the sun was actually out so we went miniature golfing, which I love.  I played a great game and totally beat Aunt K.

I think Sydney had fun too, although she let Mom hit most of her balls.  If Mom didn't make a hole in one, Syd would pick up the ball and dump it in the hole for her.  Near the end of the game, Syd tried hitting with the club a few times, but she still thought it was easier to just put the ball where she wanted it.

Throwing the ball into the barn with her hand.

The second day Aunt Kari was here was really busy.  We went swimming which was so much fun and I got to stay home from school.  Then we made cars to watch a drive-in movie at home later that night.

Sydney was sick last week, and the only place she would nap was on Mom.  So this is how Mom spent almost every afternoon--stuck on the couch.

While Mom was being a lazy bum on the couch, Aunt Kari let me go running with her.  Aunt K is training for an Ironman Triathlon, so I knew I had to show her a good running route.  We ended up running (and maybe a little walking) over 2 1/2 miles! I think Aunt Kari definitely got a good workout.

That night we watched "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" at our home drive-in.  It was awesome!

We went to a Bouncy Place the next day. Mom loves her iphone camera, but it sure doesn't take very good action shots.

Syd did a great job climbing up the slides all by herself and wasn't even afraid to go down them when they were so high!

When we weren't off on adventures, Aunt Kari read to me from "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" while I listened inside my pillow fort.

Don't let this pic of Syd with Aunt Kari fool you. Sydney was totally set up. Mom had the camera ready and as soon as Sydney came walking around the corner, Aunt Kari grabbed her. Sydney was so surprised, she couldn't help but smile for a split second which Mom was lucky enough to catch.

This is how Sydney really was during most of Kari's visit:

Since she was sick and miserable, all she wanted was Mom.

Mom and Aunt Kari--can you believe how giant Mom's belly is getting???  And she still has three months to go before my new baby sister is here.

It was so fun having Aunt Kari here.  I can't wait to see her again and have more adventures! Hopefully Sydney will be nicer to her next time.

I love my brother!

Have I ever mentioned that I have the best brother in the world?  He is so funny and so fun to play chase with.  I love copying everything he does.  For the past few nights I've been dying to sleep in his bed and last night Mom actually let me!  It took us a while to fall asleep, but we weren't playing around.  Ty read me a story and we had fun talking for a long time.  Eventually we fell asleep.

I want to sleep in Ty's bed every night, but I know Mom won't let me.  But sleeping in Ty's bed makes me really excited to have my own big girl bed soon!
