Fun in the Sun

We had one more day at the beach. It was perfect weather. The sun was out but there was a little breeze so it didn't get to hot. Here are a bunch of pics from our day:

Syd helped me get the sand off my back.
Can't wait till next summer when we can go back to the beach. But right now I'm really excited about starting first grade! Did you know school starts in four days?!

And just so you know, this will be the last post until my baby sister is born. Mom is going into the hospital tonight to have her! That means I get to have a sleepover at my friend's house! Next post you'll find out the baby's name!

Syd thinks she has a baby in her tummy too.

Salmon Fishing

Since I filled up my learning activity chart for the summer, I got to have a special surprise at the end of the summer. Mom gave me clues all during the summer and this is what they were:
1. It had something to do with Dad.
2. It had something to do with Charter (where Dad works).
3. It was a long ways away.
4. We would spend the night in a hotel.
5. It had something to do with water.
6. We would be on a boat.
7. The last clue was a bag of Swedish fish.

I got to go on a salmon fishing trip with Dad and some of his friends from work!

We drove a long way to the Columbia River and stayed the night in a hotel. Then we got up suuuuuuuuper early the next morning to go out on the boat.

We got to make a few stops along the way to the River.

A sign leading to the Goonies house and the house itself.

We played at the beach for a bit.

That's a dead pelican with a fish still in it's claw.
Dinner was really really really really really late. I was starting to lose it by the time it actually got to the table.

Watching movies in the hotel room:
This was actually my favorite part of the whole trip.

On the boat:

Dad and I (okay, mostly Dad) were the first ones to catch a King Salmon on our boat.  Look how big it is!

Dad also caught two silvers. Here's one of them.

Since I went to bed so late the night before and got up so early that morning, I spent a few hours of the boat trip here:

I also hung out with the captain inside (when I was awake).
This was my second favorite part of the trip.

Fishing itself wasn't super fun, but I sure loved spending time with my Dad. He's so awesome. I wonder what he'll surprise me with next.

And just so you know, this is the last post before the baby comes.

Camping

We had a ward campout two weekends ago and it was soooooooooooooooooooooooo much fun. Mom thought she might get to stay home since she was 38 weeks pregnant, but Sydney was dying to go and apparently Syd and I would be too much for Dad to handle on his own. So Mom went. Luckily she had an air mattress to sleep on and our campsite was about 200 feet from the outhouse. Yeah, no flushing toilets.

I got to sleep in my own tent that Dad helped me set up.

And my friend Luke got to sleep in it with me. Do you like the sign I made?
I tried stashing a bunch of our goodies in there for a late night snack, but Mom found them somehow.

Sydney was so excited to be camping. She hasn't been camping for two years--since she was almost eight months old.

She slept in Mom and Dad's tent in her very own brand new sleeping bag.

But before dinner and going to bed, we had tons of playtime at the river.

Of course, Dad brought along his fishing gear.

After plopping herself down in the river with her clothes on, Mom decided to change Syd into a swimsuit.

And somehow Dad got roped into going out in the river with Syd.

We stayed up really late and then got to play even more the next morning before we left. I didn't see much of Mom and Dad the whole time we were there because I was too busy running around with my friends. I love camping!

Another month down

And I'm just getting around to updating the blog. Oh, well. Here's what we've been up to:

Dad and I started a fire in my bedroom.

Just kidding! It was dry ice. Did you know that this is what happens when you add water to dry ice?? So awesome!

We watched the Renton River Days parade.

Syd thought everything was a little too loud and spent half the parade with her ears covered.

This pic is a little blurry, but I made a car for Syd out of an old popcorn box and I made her a cardboard cell phone (that she's talking on) and then pushed her around the house.  She loved it!

We also made a fort in her bedroom that Mom wasn't allowed to come in.

I finished up my last session of swim lessons for the summer. I LOVE swimming. When it wasn't my turn to practice my swim skills with the teacher, I was doing back flips in the water and practicing swimming on my own.

One day we had to practice survival swimming in our clothes. It sure is hard to swim with wet clothes on.

Sydney got to do swim lessons with Mom. Too bad for them that the pool they swam in was colder than mine. But Sydney still loved the water--especially on the sunny days.

I went to a week long soccer camp and actually got into the little scrimmages we had--which was a big improvement over last year. See? I'm actually trying to kick the ball when other people are around instead of waiting for the ball to come to me.

One of the really cool things we did was visit the temple as a family for the first time. I actually got to touch the temple wall!

Syd was asleep for the first half of our time there.

But then she woke up and got to enjoy how pretty everything was.

After the temple, we went and played at the park and then got ice cream at Dairy Queen. What a perfect day!

I got to go to work with Dad one day, and then Mom and Sydney came and met us for lunch. We at McDonald's on Alki Beach. It was awesome!

Sydney got her first haircut and did so great sitting in the chair. We all love her new 'do and Syd can't wait to get her hair cut again.

We also played at the children's museum.

And finally, we went camping. But that will have to wait until the next post because Mom hasn't downloaded the pics yet.

My new baby sister is due in one week and Syd and I can't wait! I promise I will update the blog with camping, beach, and fishing pictures before she gets here. That actually shouldn't be too hard because Mom is positive she'll be a week late. So I probably have two weeks to update the blog with the last pics of our summer fun. Make sure to check back!
